Roslindale Open Studios 2017
On Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm I will be showing and selling my work at the Roslindale Open Studios. This year my booth will be located in the Roslindale House at 120 Poplar Street in Roslindale, MA. This is a very lively group site with 14 amazing artists in one spot this year, as well as a beautiful show of work by home studios artists. There will be free live music provided here on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 by the Fusion String Ensemble. For more information go to http://www.roslindaleopenstudios.org.
Gorse Mill 2017 Holiday Open Studios
The best place to see and shop from the entire range of my work is at my studio in the Gorse Mill (31 Thorpe Road, Needham Heights). I invite you to come during the Gorse Mill 2017 Holiday Open Studios weekend, Saturday, December 2nd and Sunday December 3rd from 10 to 5, to see my newest work. You can also visit our gallery to view two concurrent shows: a group show of participating artists' work, entitled "Light in the Darkness", and an historical show about the life and work of N.C. Wyeth (see below). The weekend is a great chance to see a lot of different artists' studios and their work all in one place at the Gorse Mill artists' community. For those of you who are real ceramics fans, there are several other ceramic artists besides me at the Gorse Mill. Many artists will provide demonstrations in their studios during the weekend; I will demonstrate wheel throwing so you can see up close how I work. Our event will also be enhanced this year thanks to the generosity of local food and wine vendors who will be offering opportunities for you to taste their wares. N.C. Wyeth Show at the Gorse Mill Gallery
In addition, this December the Gorse MiIl Artists are excited to partner with the Needham Historical Society to present an historical show about the life and work of renowned 20th century Needham artist and illustrator N.C. Wyeth in the Gorse Mill Gallery. N.C. Wyeth, the father of Andrew Wyeth and grandfather of Jamie Wyeth, grew up in Needham and spent most of his life here. Many of his most well-known paintings and illustrations reflect the scenery and buildings around town, his family home (still standing on South Street), and beloved views of the Charles River in Needham. This show will kick off with an opening reception in the Gallery on Friday evening, December 1st, which will be open to the public. Gloria Greis of the Needham Historical Society will give a brief talk about Wyeth at the reception. This is a rare in-depth opportunity to learn about Wyeth and his work, to view fascinating photographic documentation of his life, and to view high quality reproductions of his illustrations and paintings. Simultaneously, many artists will open their studios for you to visit during that evening.
Needham Third Annual Winter Arts Festival
Don't miss the third annual Winter Arts Festival, co-sponsored by the Town of Needham and the Needham Cultural Council, on Saturday, December 9th from 10:00 a.m.to 3:00 p.m. I expect to participate again this year. Artists will be showing and selling their work in Powers Hall, inside the Needham Town Hall at 1471 Highland Avenue. It's time to gear up for holiday gift shopping, so remember how special a handmade gift can be, and shop local! (Reminder: Chanukah starts on the evening of December 12th this year.) For more information, contact Devra Bailin, Needham's Economic Development Director, at 781-455-7550, ext. 213, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mistletoe Arts Fair
Once again this year I am thrilled to participate in a beloved and lively Cambridge holiday tradition, the Mistletoe Arts Fair (formerly the Holly Fair) at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. The Center is located at 42 Brattle Street, right in the heart of Harvard Square; my booth will be easy to find on the first floor. The Fair will take place on Saturday, December 16th and Sunday, December 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days. A marvelous opportunity to purchase very special handmade holiday gifts less than 10 days before Christmas. Shop local!
